History of the Parish of São Pedro de Castelões

The Parish of São Pedro de Castelões, with an area of 21 km2 and a population of approximately 8,700 inhabitants, representing one third of the population of the municipality of Vale de Cambra.
It is one of the most significant parishes of the municipality, given its agricultural value, historical, cultural and natural, having been elevated to a town on 20 May 1993.
It is assumed that the foundation of the Parish is previous to the foundation of the Monarchy and its name origin has been Castelão - the rich and noble man. Currently called São Pedro de Castelões " - Parish of the rich and noble, having added the name of the Patron Saint of the Parish.
With contrasts between the abundant spaces of the landscapes and natural wealth and infrastructure supporting urban life, provides a healthy environment in an economic activity that lets you enjoy in full the existing heritage.
